Founder and Managing Director

David Jacquin founded North Point Advisors in 2004 with the mission to create value for its clients by providing exceptional mergers and acquisitions advice and services, thereby earning their lifetime loyalty. David has spent two decades of his career as an M&A advisor. Prior to founding North Point Advisors, he led M&A divisions for each of Piper Jaffray & Co, Merrill Lynch and Bank of America/Montgomery Securities. Additionally, David practiced law with Cravath, Swaine and Moore in New York and London, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions. He also worked as a consultant for Arthur Andersen and Company. David obtained a B.S. with honors from St. Louis University and earned his J.D. with honors from Georgetown University. He lives in Sonoma County, California with his wife Heidi and their two children, Hayley and Alec.

Matthew Kelly

Managing Director

Matt Kelly is a Partner and Managing Director having been with North Point Advisors since shortly after its founding in 2004. Matt is focused on the consumer sector, including restaurants, retail and consumer products and services. He has over 15 years of M&A and investment advisory experience having spent the majority of his career prior to North Point at Deutsche Bank and Franklin Resources. Matt is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Matt lives in San Francisco with his wife Jessica and daughter Audrey.

Peter Hunt

Managing Director

Peter Hunt is a Managing Director at North Point Advisors and is responsible for the firm’s Healthcare practice.   He has over 25 years of M&A and investment banking experience having worked previously for firms including J.P. Morgan & Co., Bank of America/Montgomery Securities and JMP Securities. During his career, Peter has completed over $15 billion of completed M&A assignments. 

Peter earned his Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University and his B.S. from Washington & Lee University, where he served on the Williams School of Commerce Board of Advisors for 10 years.  Peter and his wife, Meg, live in the San Francisco Bay area and have three children, Greg, Emily and Olivia.  Peter is an avid fly fisherman and golfer.  He is the author of “Structuring Mergers & Acquisitions: A Guide to Creating Shareholder Value.”

Scott Becker

Managing Director

Scott Becker joined the team as a Managing Director in 2011 to bring North Point’s consumer expertise to the wine and beverage sectors. Scott has both M&A advisory and operating experience in the wine business. Previously, he served as the Director of Business Development for H. William Harlan (Harlan Estate, BOND Estates) and Vice President for Global Wine Partners. Scott also spent five years in the military as an Air Force officer. In addition to his M&A responsibilities, Scott acts as the Managing Partner for North Point WineVest, a syndicated investment entity created to make selective investments in the wine industry. Scott earned a B.S. from the U.S. Air Force Academy and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He and his wife Meaghan live in Napa Valley.

Sam Wilkins

Managing Director

Sam Wilkins has spent much of the past 18 years focused on advisory transactions and capital raising for hospitality and real estate companies. From 1996 – 2000, Sam managed the Lodging, Gaming and Leisure investment banking group at Banc of America Securities (formerly, Montgomery Securities). He then opened and ran the West Coast office of Boston-based investment bank Adams Harkness, and managed the investment banking business at Presidio Financial Partners. In 2004, Sam joined Chileno Bay Development Partners to help that group raise approximately $90 million of equity capital to acquire and commence development of the Chileno Bay Club, a large-scale, luxury resort project in Cabo San Lucas, MX. Later, as CEO of Chileno Bay, Sam oversaw the successful entitlement and master planning of the project. Sam’s full-time work on Chileno Bay ended in the fall of 2009 when he joined North Point Advisors. The development of Chileno Bay continues after a successful recapitalization in December 2011. At North Point, Sam focuses on real estate-related companies, with a special emphasis on the lodging and resort sectors. He has represented a private hotel company on a successful capital raise, advised an owner/operator on the acquisition of a restaurant chain, advised a resort owner on a recapitalization transaction and raised private equity for a company that is creating an exchange for IP licensing rights. Sam graduated with honors from Yale University and the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to Banc of America Securities, he practiced law at Goodwin Procter in Boston, and was an Associate Independent Counsel on the Iran-Contra investigations and prosecutions headed by Lawrence Walsh. Sam lives in Mill Valley, California, with his wife, Melissa Murphy, and their three children, Sarah, Grace and Sam.
